| This set of two freestanding lace (FSL) designs are patterned after the Fleur de Lis 1 and Mylar fleur de lis and have been requested by a few customers. It is recommended that 2-3 layers of washaway stabilizer such as WetNGone, Sulky Solvy, Vilene, etc., be used to achieve the desired project that will stand alone and not be stitched on fabric. | Libby tested the two sizes of FSL fleur de lis using brown bobbin thread and gold top thread using 2 layers of washable stabilizer. Thanks, Lib! |

Design shown at left was stitched on two layers of Sulky Solvy washable stabilizer sandwiched in the middle with a layer of WetNGone washable stabilizer. This photo shows the design after stitching before it was unhooped.

Design is then unhooped and most of the stabilizer is carefully cut away from the design using scissors.

After rinsing design in a bowl of water, it is laid to dry flat on a paper towel. Leaving some slight residue from the stabilizer when rinsing adds to the embroidered design's stiffness.

Fay decided to experiment and stitched the smaller FSL fleur de lis sold above on a napkin. Although not originally designed for fabric, her design stitched in Robison Anton "Old Gold" colored thread on a black napkin is absolutely gorgeous!
